Jefferson Davis Anderson was born March 11, 1899 in Lexington, Mississippi, son of Rev. and Mrs. Daniel Anderson and received his education in the public schools of Mississippi.
He was converted and baptized in Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lexington at an early age.
He lived for a number of years in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Upon moving to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1923 he united with Pilgrim Baptist Church and served very faithfully on the Usher Board.
Jeff resigned his position as assistant to the Post Master in Mound Bayou to come to St. Paul to work for the Pullman Company. He served this company until 1958 when his health failed causing his retirement.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Pullman Porters Benefit Association; Board of the Associated Negro Credit Union; Elks Gopher Lodge IBPOEW and Cameo Social Club.
Jefferson D. Anderson departed this life Thursday, November 23, 1961 at 1:00 p.m. at 650 Carroll Avenue. He leaves to mourn their loss a son, Jeffery of Chicago, Illinois, 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Charles S. of St. Paul, Ezell, Matthew and Mrs. Zee A. Barron all of Mound Bayou, Mississippi and Mrs. Annie Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri, other relatives and friends.
